Maurice Jacquet, the innovative heir
(1921-†1956)
Among all those who animated the Jacquet Workshop through its more than 40 years of existence, Maurice Jacquet remains one of the most prolific but also the most innovative.
He was born on November 8, 1921. He studied at Berthollet High School in Annecy until he graduated. His fragile health did not allow him to continue his studies, he joined the paternal workshop.
He married in 1943, from this union a daughter Annette was born but the couple separated shortly afterwards.
He will prove to be an excellent tourner, and put his talents as a cartoonist in favor of the decors of dishes and vases.
His father will tell a journalist about him later, evoking his workshop: "a skilful tourner, he was the great host".
The works of his beginnings, in the second half of the 1930s, were signed by his surname in all letters, Mr. Jacquet, like his father's signature.
Then he also adopts a monogram and sign in two different ways, either with l'engobe or with an MJ buffer, often coupled with his father's PJ buffer:

The works that can be attributed to him in a certain way are few, however his production and his activity are important within the workshop.
It can be assumed, as for René Anchierri in the 1920s, that Paul Jacquet did not wish Mauritius to use its own signature in his workshop.
In his father's footsteps, he also conducts research on shapes, gobs, cooking techniques, and decors of course.
It will develop an Art Deco style very recognizable in its stylization, more graphic, but also tests in other directions, such as these pieces in sandstone with castings.
Maurice Jacquet died of a heart infection at 35 years old on 11 January 1956.
With his disappearance, the hope of a transmission of his company was also extinguished for Paul Jacquet, who was greatly affected by his death.
The workshop will now operate with its unique worker Emile Grillet, able to occupy the various manufacturing stations.
